want to study?
Do you want to extend your subject knowledge past undergraduate level? Perhaps specialise in an academic field, or gain a competitive edge in the jobs market? Whatever your reason, we're here to support you every step of the way.
Technology and processing of polymers and composites – area of science and technology, the subject of which is the development of scientific bases of synthesis, preparation and processing of polymeric materials and composites with a given set of properties and specific to the operational requirements.
- Physico-chemical properties and the basis of technology of polymeric materials and composites. The study and the operational and theoretical basis of physical and chemical processes occurring in the polymers in the stages of production and processing
- Synthetic and natural polymers, production of the starting materials and their analysis, formulation; synthesis processes
- Technology for producing and processing plastics
- Technology for producing and processing of elastomers
- Production technology of composite materials based on polymer matrix (forecasting properties, phase interaction studies towards predicting structure-properties, homogenization of the composition) and manufacturing (molding) products from them
- Technological properties of polymers, elastomers, composites based on them
- Optimization of process parameters and control of the structure and properties of polymeric materials and compositions
- Recycling of polymer materials and the creation of environmentally friendly technologies
- The structure and properties of polymers, elastomers, composites, and products thereof in connection with the process of obtaining materials and shaping products
- Mechanical recycling processes of polymeric materials and composites, and processes of forming products
- Development of technological fundamentals of the design of products from polymers and composites, equipment and tooling to manufacture them
Three year (full-time).
This programme delivers a detailed knowledge of organic materials, facilities and equipment for organic syntheses; quality controls of raw materials, semi-finished and finished products; international standards and regulations for the production of products of organic synthesis. This programme of study will help students to solve the objectives of professional activitys. Students will also have the opportunity to develop a critical insight of management issues relating to the petrochemical industry. The programme emphasises inter-personal teamwork skills as strongly as technical topics.
Core Modules
- Advanced Structural Analysis (15 credits)
- Geotechnical Modelling and Analysis (15 credits)
- Transport Analysis (15 credits)
- Appraisal and re-use of old buildings (15 credits)
- Environmental Management (30 credits)
Optional modules
- Construction law & sustainable procurement (30 credits)
- Project Management (30 credits)
One year (full-time)
By its very nature, the MSc of Science in Technology/Chemistry is a vocational degree programme that will help you to acquire the skills, knowledge and abilities in technology of organic substances. The programme provides the educational base for such aspirations.
